Biography
Shawn Martin is a Philadelphia based visual artist that specializes in urban and portrait photography. Originally born and raised in Los Angeles, Shawn brings his LA origins with him to his work in Philly. Heavily influenced by graffiti and inner-city neighborhoods, he finds that the truest human nature can be found there. Shawn has an appreciation for the raw reality of everyday life, the fleeting beauty of those in-between moments, and his photography captures that in every photograph he makes. His photos are an ideal method to articulate and share his passion for the beauty of various people, cultures and environments, and he is always able to create new perspectives of ordinary situations. His work often constructs narratives that influence one’s understanding of culture and place-based identity.
